Our story

Why we started British Diving Hurghada

British Diving Hurghada is run by two partners: Ross, who is British, and Ahmed, who is Egyptian and a PADI IDC Staff Instructor. Between us, we know what British guests expect from a diving holiday, and what it takes to teach diving properly.

We started a couple of years ago to give the best service we can, and to stick to PADI's standards and to diving safety. Your room, your transfers and your days on the boat are booked as one trip, and the person leading your course is qualified to help train instructors.

Safety and standards

How we run every day

The things you do not see on a good dive day, and the reason it goes well.

Unhurried divesNo rushing back to the boat. Our guests often mention it in their reviews.

A briefing before every diveThe site, the plan, the signals, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Serviced, checked equipmentOur kit is serviced regularly, and checked with you before every dive.

PADI standardsEvery course follows PADI's standards. A guide takes no more than 6 divers, and an instructor no more than 6 students.

Medical forms firstEveryone fills in the PADI medical form before they dive.

Ready for an emergencyOxygen, a first aid kit, fire safety equipment and a safety radio on board, and life jackets for everyone. The nearest recompression chamber is 5 minutes from the marina.

We choose sites with care, brief every diver on keeping clear of the coral, and teach good buoyancy from the first dive, because a diver in control is a diver who does not touch the reef.

What British-run means on a diving holiday

Hurghada has a great many dive operators, and most of them dive the same reefs. What changes from one to the next is how the day is run: how big the groups are, how well the dives are briefed, and how much is left for you to sort out yourself.

Booking in your own language

You book on a UK WhatsApp number, prices are in pounds or euros, and every reply, briefing and course is in English, so nothing gets lost along the way.

Training led by an IDC Staff Instructor

A PADI IDC Staff Instructor is qualified to help train new dive instructors. Having one lead our training means every course is taught to the standard instructors themselves are taught to.
